Introduction

The world of Nirn is a diverse one with many races inhabiting its surface. But, how have these races been depicted over time by Bethesda? What does this say about us as gamers who decide to indulge ourselves inside this fantastical world? Well, before we can talk about anything else, we have to know what "races" means in this fantasy context. To make this easier, I'll only be going over races that the player can play as (sorry to all you Imga enthusiasts). In the universe of The Elder Scrolls, there are three main "categories" in the playable races: Man, Mer, and Beastfolk.
